Eurydice

Carousel Theatre of Indianola is proud to present Eurydice, by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Chris Williams and assistant directed by Emma Norman. A retelling of the classic Orpheus and Eurydice Greek tragedy, the story follows as Eurydice (Andra Peeler DiMarco) suddenly dies on her wedding day and finds herself in the underworld. There she has all memories of her past life ripped away from her,  including those of her new husband Orpheus (Alex Lindsley). Shortly after arriving, she is reunited with her father (Joel Hade), and we watch as he struggles to remind her of all the things she has lost. While there, we are introduced to the inhabitants of the underworld, including a chorus of stones (Amanda Jackson, Michelle Vaudrin, and Molly Larche) and a Nasty Interesting Man (Shawn Pavlik). A timeless story of loss and love, Eurydice pushes audiences to relate their own experiences to the characters on stage, emphasizing the idea of unity through loss.
